Phillips (Glenview)
|
At the time of Griffith’s Valuation Captain Michael Phillips of Glenview, county Cavan, held six townlands in the parish of Drumlane and one townland in the parish of Drung. The Phillips county Cavan estate was acquired through the marriage in 1702 of James Phillips and Margaret Haynes of Lislin, county Cavan. Their grandson Michael Phillips inherited the lands of Ashgreen, county Meath from his uncle John Wade. In 1878, Captain Michael Phillips’ son, the Reverend Thomas George Johnston Phillips, Killogher Glebe, Belturbet, owned 1,076 acres in county Cavan.
