Name Description
Dease (Turbotstown) The Dease family resided in the Turbotstown locality of county Westmeath for centuries and were related to prominent families such as the Plunketts and Nugents. In 1820, Gerald Dease of Turbotstown,(born 1790), married Elizabeth, daughter and co-heir of Edmund O’Callaghan of Kilgory, county Clare. He died in 1854. In the mid-1850s Gerald Dease held an estate, principally in the county Cavan parish of Drumlumman but also in the parishes of Ballintemple and Crosserlough. In 1876, his grandson, Gerald, a minor, owned 4,647 acres in county Cavan and 2,315 acres in county Westmeath.
