Solomon Darcus, of Gardenmore, Larne, County Antrim, was the owner of over 1200 acres in County Donegal in the 1870s as well as over 600 acres in County Antrim. At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s he was among the principal lessors in the parish of Tullyfern, barony of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal. Local sources suggest the Darcus family were associated with the city of Derry during the Plantation. Solomon Darcus served as Clerk of the Peace for County Antrim. Their Donegal estate also had associations with the Lecky family.

Lecky [Leckey]

In the 1870s the representatives of the late Connelly M.C. Leckey owned almost 800 acres in County Donegal as well as property in County Derry. Their address was Warren Hill, Londonderry. At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s,, some of this property in the parish of Donaghmore, barony of Raphoe South, County Donegal was being leased to William Baird. Robert Leckey, with an address at Manorcunningham, was recorded as the owner of over 500 acres in the 1870s.
