Name Description
Crawford (Maperath) This family originally came from Scotland and settled in county Fermanagh. John Maxwell Crawford who, at the time of Griffith’s Valuation, held a number of townlands in the parish of Drung, barony of Tullygarvey, county Cavan, was the son of the Reverend Jason Crawford and his wife Henrietta, daughter of Henry Rowley of Maperath, county Meath. The Reverend Jason’s father John Crawford of Laurencestown, county Meath, was the grandson of Robert Crawford of Oakley Park, county Meath and his wife Alice daughter of Jason Hassard of Gardenhill, county Fermanagh. John M. Crawford of Maperath owned 547 acres in county Cavan in 1876, while Jason Crawford of Dublin owned 113 acres. Jason Crawford was married to Catherine daughter of Gustavus Brooke of Brookehill, county Donegal. Jason Crawford who died in March 1846 (Anglo-Celt 17 April 1846), lived at Lakeview in Ballyhally for a time, this house was later in the possession of Patrick Kellett.
