Name Description
Barton (Greenfort) Burke states that this branch of the Barton family descend from Thomas Barton, one of the first burgesses of Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. Greenfort was originally a Babington estate which passed to the Bartons through the marriage of Catherine Babington and Baptist Barton. At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s, Baptist J. Barton was among the principal lessors in the parishes of Clondavaddog, Mevagh and Tullyfern in the barony of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal. Hussey de Burgh recorded Baptist J. Barton as the owner of over 8000 acres in County Donegal in the 1870s. Captain Edward Barton of Clonelly, Kesh, County Fermanagh, was the owner of over 300 acres in County Longford in the 1870s.
