Hewitt (Viscount Lifford) In the 1870s Hussey de Burgh stated that Viscount Lifford's estate in County Donegal amounted to over 11,000 with a further 500 acres in County Tyrone. The estate was among the principal lessors in the parish of Donaghmore, barony of Raphoe South at the time of Grffith's Valuation. James Hewitt, 1st Viscount Lifford, was born in Coventry in Warwickshire. He pursued a career in law and was appointed Lord Chancellor in 1767.
