There are references to Isaac Smallman of Montevideo, Roscrea : a chemical manufacturer, shipowner and merchant in Cork and Dublin. ''The Nenagh Guardian'' of 19 August 1870s reports the death of Mary Anne, widow of the late Isaac Smallman of Montevideo and Roscrea "who died on the 15th at 151 Rathgar Road, Dublin". In October 1866 and June 1867 premises in the town and some lands, the estate of Eliza Smallman, were advertised for sale . The second sale included 147 acres in county King's County (Offaly). The Irish Times reports on the purchasers of some of these lots in December 1867. Demesne lands were purchased by D. Bergin while other land was bought by Messers. Powell and Shepperd. Arms were the same for the Smallman families of King's County, Dublin and county Tipperary, descendants of Robert Smallman who died in 1699.
