Morton (Clonmel)

The Reverend James Morton of Little Island, Clonmel, county Waterford, held land in the parishes of Donaghmore, barony of Middlethird and Rathronan, barony of Iffa and Offa East, county Tipperary in the mid 19th century. He was the son of Samuel Morton of Little Island. In 1820 the Reverend Morton married Catherine Villiers Sankey of Coolmore, Fethard and died in 1870 when he was succeeded by his son Mathew Villiers Sankey, who owned 2,308 acres in Queen's County (Laois) and 474 acres in county Tipperary in the 1870s.
