|
A family originally from Yorkshire and settled in Dublin by the late 17th century. Richard Falkiner built Mount Falcon, county Tipperary, in 1720 and married Maria Rogers of Ballynavin. Their grandson, Reverend Richard Daniel Falkiner, married Maria Robbins of Hymanstown and they had eleven sons. At the time of Griffith's Valuation Richard Henry Falkiner of Mount Falcon held an estate in the parish of Ardcrony, barony of Lower Ormond, while his uncle, Joseph Falkiner of Rodeen, held land in the parishes of Finnoe and Kilbarron. In 1860 Rodeen House and over 600 acres of the Falkiner estate was advertised for sale. In the 1870s Richard H. Falkiner of Mount Falcon owned 682 acres in county Tipperary.
