Kennedy (Nenagh)

Members of the Kennedy family held land in the Nenagh locality at the time of Griffith's Valuation. In July 1852 the estate of Richard Kennedy of Nenagh at Tooreigh, 359 acres in the barony of Upper Ormond, was advertised for sale. Tooreigh, Bantis, Coolnamunna and Glenahilty are all located to the north east of Nenagh, near the road to Birr. Edward Kennedy of Coolnamoner Park and John Joseph Kennedy of Beech Lodge owned 432 acres in county Tipperary in the 1870s. [Lands at Knockanevin, 215 acres in the parish of Glenkeen, barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, county Tipperary, the estate of Sarah Kennedy spinster were advertised for sale in January 1871. Knockanevin was previously part of the Portarlington estate].
