Cahill (Co Tipperary)

A family originally connected with the Ballycahill locality, near Thurles, county Tipperary. In the mid 19th century John Cahill held land in the parishes of Glenkeen and Drom, Kilnamanagh Upper and Rahelty and Shyane, brony of Eliogarty while Thomas Cahill also held land in the parish of Drom. Some of the Cahill lands were held from the Earl of Portarlington. In April 1873 the estate of Michael Cahill at Rathmanna, barony of Eliogarty, was advertised for sale and was readvertised on a number of subsequent occasions.
