| O'Brien (Ardfort) | In the mid 19th century Francis O'Brien of Thurles, county Tipperary, held an estate in the parishes of Inch and Thurles, barony of Eliogarty. He married Frances Agnes daughter of Luke Bray. In May 1855 the lands of Gortataggart, part of Gortnaclogh and houses and premises in the town of Thurles, the estate of Francis O'Brien, were advertised for sale. Denis Bray O'Brien of Ardfort House, Thurles, owned 1,029 acres in county Tipperary in the 1870s. |
