Cooke (Brownstown)

Samuel Cooke held land at Brownstown, barony of Eliogarty, county Tipperary, from Captain Goold, in the mid 19th century. In the 1870s Samuel Cooke of Brownestown owned 631 acres in county Tipperary. The lands of Galbooley, barony of Eliogarty, the estate of Benjamin John Cooke and his wife and Eliza Langley were advertised for sale in November 1856. An Australian newspaper ''The Moreton Bay Courier'' reported that Mr Benjamin John Cook of Galbooly was shot dead in 1847 (27 March 1847).
