Jones (Skreen)

Estate(s)

Name Description
Jones (Skreen) Toberpatrick was one of the properties held by the Jones family since the 17th century. It was purchased by Peter O'Connor in the mid-19th century, possibly following on a sale in the Encumbered Estates Court in 1852. A perpetual annuity of £60 per annum, charged upon lands in the Barony of Tireragh, which had been the subject of a dispute between Jones and the Earl of Kingston, in 1837, was offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates court in November 1851. An estate at Clontuskert, barony of Clonmacnowen, county Galway, owned by Thomas Loftus Jones, was offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court in July 1863. Over 1000 acres of the same estate were offered for sale in July 1867.
