| Vowell | A Devonshire family who settled near Charleville, county Cork in the late 17th century. The Reverend Christopher Vowell was the first vicar of the parish. Another branch of the family resided at Castlelyons. By the mid 18th century John Vowell of Springfort held about 1,500 acres. The estate was sold soon afterwards to the family of the Reverend Jonathan Bruce. |
