Name Description
Atkin (Leadinton) This Somerset family settled near Youghal, county Cork, in the late 17th century. The Reverend John Thomas Atkin of Leadinton, barony of Barrymore, died in 1765 and was succeeded by his son Walter who had married Barbara, only child of Maurice Uniacke of Ballymacooly, in 1751. Their so, Maurice Uniacke Atkin, married Elizabeth de Courcey McCarty of Carrignavar and had a son, John Thomas Atkin, who married Sophia Wright. John T. Atkins held land in the parish of Templebodan and J.T. Atkins Swanne held land in the parish of Templenacarriga, barony of Barrymore in the mid 19th century. The representatives of J.J. Atkins Swaine owned 454 acres in county Cork in the 1870s.
