Hayes (Crosshaven)

Estate(s)

Name Description
Hayes (Crosshaven) Ó Murchadha states that, in 1656, Richard Hayes, gentleman, of Cork city, was assigned the lands of Knocknagore and Ballinaneenig. Later the family seem to have also received the townlands of Commeen and Kilmichael East from the Earl of Shannon. Thomas Hayes of Crosshaven was the owner of almost 1600 acres in county Cork in the 1870s. He was among the principal lessors in the parish of Templebreedy, barony of Kerrycurrihy, in 1850. Over 1000 acres of his estate in the baronies of Kinalea and Kerrycurrihy were offered for sale in the Landed Estates court in October 1872.
