Name Description
Clanchy (Belfort) [Cornelius Clanchy gent was granted lands in the barony of Tullagh, county Clare in 1670]. A family established in Limerick city at the beginning of the 18th century. By the late 18th century John Clanchy was living in Charleville, county Cork. This family was very involved in the racing industry in the 19th and 20th centuries. Hajba writes that the Clanchys built much of the town of Charleville. Thomas Clanchy of Charleville owned 473 acres in the 1870s.
