Vokes
|
A name that was very much associated with Limerick city and a number of family members held property in the town at the time of Griffith's Valuation. Thomas Phillips Vokes was Chief Magistrate of Police at Limerick in the early 19th century. He married Anne Walsh and had a number of daughters, one of whom married in 1828 Henry Robert Addison, soldier and author. Property belonging to him, Agnes Mary Anne Vokes and Frederick Henry Rich was advertised for sale in June 1872, including land at Rathbane, barony of Clanwilliam, county Limerick. The Irish Times reported that the property was sold to Mr. Addison for £4000.
