O'Reilly Dease In the 18th century Richard Dease of Lisney [Lisanny], parish of Drumlumman, county Cavan and his wife Anne Johnson had a son William Dease, a Dublin physician. William married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Richard Dowdall of Athlumney, county Meath and their son Richard of Lisney and Dublin married in 1814 as his second wife Anna Maria daughter of Matthew O’Reilly of Knock Abbey, county Louth. Their only son was Matthew O’Reilly Dease of Ravensdale, Bray, county Wicklow and Dunleer, county Louth. He was Member of Parliament for county Louth from 1868 to 1874. At the time of Griffith's Valuation Matthew O'Reilly Dease also held land in the parish of Ballynamona, barony of Smallcounty, county Limerick. In 1876, he owned land in counties Louth (1,894 acres), Cavan (1,417 acres), Limerick (446 acres), Meath and Dublin but his largest acreage was in county Mayo where he owned an estate of 2,366 acres. He sold his county Mayo estate to the Congested Districts' Board on 2 Dec 1898.
