White (Limerick)

This family were established at Ballynanty, county Limerick, from the 15th century. Jasper White of Fairy Hill, Parteen, county Limerick, married Helen Creagh of Dangan, county Clare and had three sons. Jasper died in 1808. His eldest son, William, of Shannon Dale, Castleconnell, county Limerick and of 71 Georges St, Limerick, was succeeded by his son Helenus White of Shannon Dale and Mount Sion. In 1865, Helenus married, as his second wife, Maria Christina Blake of Holly Park, county Galway. Their second son assumed the name of Blake and inherited Holly Park. One of their grandsons lived at Nantenan during the 20th century, when he succeeded his cousin, Captain John Joseph White. In the 1870s the representatives of Helenus White, Limerick, owned 1,542 acres in county Limerick.

Blake (Hollypark)

In 1824 Pierce Blake of Hollypark is described as a resident proprietor in county Galway. Peter Blake occupied a house valued at £20 and over 100 acres, at Hollypark in 1855. He is also recorded as the proprietor of several townlands in the parish of Kilconierin in the 1830s. In the 1870s Peter Blake was the owner of over 3000 acres in county Galway. Holly Park was inherited in the late 19th century by Helenus Peter White, who assumed the name of Blake. He was the second son of Maria Christina, only daughter of Peter Blake and second wife of Helenus White of county Limerick.

White (Nantinan)

Lieutenant John White of Belmont, Castle Connell and Nantenan, county Limerick, was a younger son of Jasper White and Helen Creagh. According to Caleb Powell John White made a fortune in Jamaica as a sugar planter, returning to Ireland in the 1830s. At the time of Griffith's Valuation he held land in parishes of Caherconlish, barony of Clanwilliam, Ballingarry and Kilmeedy, barony of Connello Upper and Dromin, barony of Coshma, county Limerick. The Nantinan estate of the Royse family was advertised for sale in 1853 and the house and 145 acres were purchased by John White for £3,800. In May 1862 523 acres at Drumsallagh, county Clare, leased by John White of Belmont to Edward Bernard in 1853 were advertised for sale in the Landed Estates' Court, with some Limerick city property. In the 1870s his son John Patrick White of Nantenan owned 2,447 acres in county Limerick. John P. White and his wife Emily MacMahon of Stonehall, county Clare, had seven children. When their grandson John Joseph White died in 1940 the estate passed to a cousin, Martin William Helenus White.
