|
Burke's ''Landed Gentry of Ireland'' states that Andrew Comyn of Ryefield, county Roscommon, married the sister and heiress of Lewis Ward, of Ballymacward and Ballinderry, county Galway in 1786. At the time of Griffith's Valuation, Andrew Comyn was leasing a house valued at £16 in the townland of Ballinderry, barony of Kilconnell, from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. In the 1870s the Comyn estate in county Galway amounted to over 1400 acres as well as 411 acres in county Roscommon. By March 1916 A.N. Comyn had accepted an offer from the Congested Districts' Board for over 700 acres of his estate. In 1958 the Comyn family were residing at Westwood, Mallow, county Cork.
