Geoghegan (Killoran)
|
John P. Geoghegan is recorded as one of the principal lessors in the parishes of Killoran and Kiltormer, barony of Longford, county Galway at the time of Griffith's Valuation. He appears to be descended from a Westmeath family who were dispossessed during the Cromwellian period.
In the 1870s, John Geoghegan, resident at Dartfield, Loughrea, owned over 1500 acres in county Galway. O'Gorman notes that he was also in possession of lands in the parish of Foenagh for which Thomas Blackstock acted as his agent.
