Swanick

Arthur Swanick was residing in the Hollymount area, barony of Kilmaine, county Mayo in the mid 17th century. In 1680 his eldest son Gabriel was granted 759 acres in the parish of Kilcommon, including Cloncormuck, under the Acts of Settlement. By the same patent Gabriel was also granted over 900 acres in the barony of Kells, county Kilkenny.The Swanicks continued to hold land in the Hollymount locality in the early 18th century. The name is also found in county Roscommon.
