Edward Francis McEvoy is recorded as owning over 300 acres in county Leitrim in the 1870s as well as lands in counties Longford and Meath. The McEvoy estate was centred on Tobertinan/Tubbertinan in the parish of Rathmoylan, county Meath. In 1850 Edward F. McEvoy married Eliza Browne, daughter and heiress of Andrew Browne of Mount Hazel, county Galway. His brother, Joshua James McEvoy, married the daughter and heiress of the 7th Viscount Netterville and assumed the name of Netterville.
