Acton (Leitrim)
The Acton family have been associated with county Wicklow since the mid 17th century and had a marriage connection with the Parsons family, Earls of Rosse. Willam Acton, of Raheny & Fleet St, Dublin, was the third son the Reverend Thomas Acton and his wife Sidney daughter of Hampden Evans of Portrane, county Dublin. William Acton owned over 1,600 acres in county Leitrim in the 1870s as well as estates in counties Dublin, Fermanagh and Tipperary (254 acres).
