Ruttledge (Carravilla)
William Ruttledge, son of Thomas of Headford, county Galway, settled in Hollymount, barony of Kilmaine, county Mayo in the early 18th century. In 1770 he leased Cahervoostia from his cousin Thomas Ruttledge of Cornfield, which was inherited by his third son Thomas. The property amounting to 351 acres remained with his descendants until 1940 when William Edward Ruttledge died aged 100.
