Murphy [Trim]
George James [or James George] Murphy, whose seat was at Grange, Trim, County Meath, was the owner of over 1100 acres in County Longford in the 1870s. French writes that Murphy was originally leasing his Grange property from the Hopkins estate. in 1884 his son, George Fitzgerald Murphy married Lady Mary Plunkett, daughter of the Earl of Fingal. In 1862 property closed to Abbeylara, County Longford, leased by Francis Kiernan from the Murphy estate was offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court. The description of tenure document indicates that the original lease, dating from 1715, pertained to the estate of Aungier Gordon of Robinstown, County Longford.
