Charters
At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the early 1850s, Robert Charters was among the principal lessors in the parish of Killoe, barony of Longford. The valuation noted that Thomas Quinn was acting as receiver for the Charters estate. By the 1870s Robert Charters was noted as the owner of only 55 acres in County Longford. Devaney traces the Charters connection with this area to James Charters who took a lease from Dillon Pollard Hampson of Castlepollard c.1733. Charters in turn leased properties to both the Gray and Stephenson families.
