Stopford
At the time of Griffith’s Valuation (publ. 1854) Elizabeth Stopford held the townland of Hall in the parish of Kilcleagh, County Westmeath, which was leased by Thomas Clibborn. The Hon Lady Elizabeth Stopford also had an interest with others in the townland of Creeve, parish of Ardnurcher or Horseleap, County Westmeath. The Stopford family held the title Earl of Courtown. In 1878, Hussey de Burgh records the representatives of the Venerable Archdeacon Stopford as owners of 915 acres in County Westmeath and 388 acres in County Carlow.
