Tipping (Dromore)

In 1666, the Tippings were granted lands in counties Westmeath and Down. Thomas Tipping was settled at Dromore, county Westmeath by the end of the century. By various purchases in the early 18th century Thomas Tipping established the family in county Louth. Thomas had two sons Thomas and Edward and eight daughters. In 1741 Thomas Tipping sold lands in counties Louth, Armagh and Westmeath to Sir Thomas Taylor. The Tippings appear to have held an interest in Dromore, Cappinlack, Killinahinch. Torloghinroe, Co. Westmeath until near the end of the 18th century.
