At the time of Griffith's Valuation (publ. 1854) Richard Dyas held two townlands in the parish of Killua, county Westmeath. In 1876 Jacob Dyas of Heathstown owned 793 acres in the county although Hussey de Burgh two years later records his acreage as 1,143. Jacob's daughter Ruth became quite a well known Irish tennis player at the end of the 19th century.
