McLoughlin (Ballyglass)
In 1814, Leet records John McLaughlin of Ballyglass, Mullingar. James William McLoughlin held the townland of Ballyglass, 145 acres in the parish of Mullingar, county Westmeath, in fee, at the time of Griffith’s Valuation (publ. 1854). In January 1854 the rental of the estate of James William Mac Loghlin and John Mac Loghlin, an infant, at Irishtown and Ballyglass, 183 acres in the parish of Mullingar, was advertised for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court. Cornelius McLoughlin of the Farmers’ Club, Dublin, owned 1,175 acres in county Westmeath in the 1870s while William McLoughlin of Stonehall, Multifarnham held 189 acres.
