Brady (Carrigallen)

John Brady, with addresses in London and Cambridgeshire,owned over 2000 acres in county Leitrim in 1876. Much of the estate was within that part of the Poor Law Union of Bawnboy which was in county Leitrim. John Brady is also recorded as a landowner in the parish of Cloone, barony of Mohill, in the 1850s. Dr. John Brady was MP for Leitrim, elected in 1852 as a Tenant Right candidate. He served as MP for Leitrim for 27 years until Ill-health forced him to retire in 1879. He was a native of county Cavan.
