Daniell (New Forest)
In the mid-nineteenth century Robert George Daniell of New Forest, Tyrrellspass, county Westmeath, (died 1911) was the lessor of some parts of townlands in the parish of Newtown. His grandfather Henry was High Sheriff of the county in 1803 and married Isabella Tighe of South Hill, county Westmeath. In the 1870s Robert G Daniell owned 1,559 acres in county Westmeath and 515 acres in county Meath. O’Brien writes that John Joseph Daniell, son of Robert George, bequeathed the estate and house to the Catholic Church on his death bed.
