In the 1870s Hussey de Burgh noted James Tyrrell with a Dublin address as the owner of over 1000 acres in County Longford. At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s, Thomas Tyrrell was among the principal lessors in the parish of Columbkille, barony of Granard
