O'Ferrell [O'Farrell](Longford)
In the 1870s, John L. O’Farrell, with addresses at Granite Hall, Kingstown and Lissard, County Longford, was recorded as the proprietor of almost 1700 acres in County Longford. Hussey de Burgh recorded him as More-O’Ferrell. At the time of Griffiths Valuation, he was the lessor of townlands in the parishes of Ardagh and Clonbroney, baronies of Ardagh and Granard. The 'Dictionary of Irish Biography' indicates that John Lewis More O’Ferrell had inherited the Lisard estate in County Longford from Edward O’Farrell in 1832. He was a barrister and commissioner of the Dublin Metropolitan Police. Richard More-O'Ferrall, whose seat was at Ballyna House, close to Enfield, was the owner of over 400 acres in County Longford in the 1870s as well as more extensive estates in Kildare and Carlow. He was MP for Longford 1851-52 and for Kildare 1859-65. The rental of property in the barony of Granard, County Longford, leased by Joseph O'Reilly from John L. O'Farrell's estate was offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court in January 1857.
