Dennehy (Longford)
Cornelius Dennehy, with an address in Dublin, was recorded as the owner of over 700 acres in County Longford in the 1870s. At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s, Thomas Dennehy was among the principal lessors in the parish of Cashel, barony of Rathcline. Maume writes that Cornelius Dennehy, an Alderman of Dublin city as well as a distiller and wine merchant, purchased an estate in County Longford in the Encumbered Estates Court. His son, William Francis Dennehy, was a journalist and editor of the 'Irish Catholic' newspaper.
