McCorkell
In the 1870s, Barry McCorkell, with an address in Londonderry, was the owner of almost 1000 acres in County Donegal. At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s, he, together with James Corscadden and John Cooke, were lessors of property in the parish of Moville Lower, Barony of Inishowen. Local sources suggest that he was a member of the McCorkell ship owning family. A Miss McCorkell, together with Samuel Wallace, of Burnfoot, were the owners of over 900 acres in County Donegal in the 1870s. It is possible that this refers to one of Frances, Jane or Margaret [McCorkle] who were lessors in the parish of Fahan upper, barony of Inishowen, in the 1850s.
