Harman

In 1807, the death of Ralph Harman, for many years the county treasurer, was recorded at Ballyhaise, county Cavan, in The Monthly Magazine or British Register Vol 23. In the mid-19th century William and Ralph Harman each held a townland in the parish of Drung, county Cavan. William Harman lived at Corgarve, parish of Castleterra, as a tenant of the Newburghs of Ballyhaise. In 1876, William Harman of Crossdrum, Co Meath owned 165 acres in the county while Ralph Harman of Fortwilliam, Virginia, owned 267 acres. The General Armoury records the Harmans of Belenacarrig [Bellanacargy], Co Cavan, as descendants of William Harman, a brother of Sir Thomas Harman.
