Hunt (Lurgan)
In the mid-19th century the Reverend Henry Hunt held a number of townlands in the parishes of Lurgan and Loughan, barony of Castlerahan, county Cavan, possibly church lands. The Reverend Hunt was Vicar General of the Diocese of Elphin, lived in the glebe house at Lurgan in the 1850s and died on 22 May 1861. He married Rose Anne Adair and is buried in Mount Jerome cemetery. His grandson, the Reverend Henry de Vere Hunt, rector of Ahascragh, county Galway, is also buried at Mount Jerome. He died in 1919 and his wife Mary Catherine Caroline (Browne) died in 1934. The Reverend Henry de Vere Hunt was the only child of Major Henry Leslie Hunt and his first wife Annie Caroline Hulbert.
