Johnston (Kilmacrenan)

James Johnston was among the principal lessors in the parish of Gartan, Barony of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal, at the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s. Hussey de Burgh records James Johnston of Summerhill, Stranorlar, was the owner of over 1100 acres in County Donegal in the 1870s. However, the Chief Tenants report records James Johnston as the owner of over 7700 acres in the early 1870s.
