Faris (Crossdoney)
Members of the Faris family owned 645 acres in county Cavan in 1876. John Alexander Faris of Corr, Crossdoney, owned the largest portion of 379 acres. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation John Alexander Faris and Samuel Faris each held a townland in the parish of Killashandra, while William Faris lived at Cloggy House in the parish. In 1861, William Faris son of Major Faris, formerly of Mackin [Mackan], county Cavan, married Jane Elizabeth Young of Monaghan town.
