Irwin (Mount Irwin)
William Irwin of Mount Irwin, county Armagh, married Sarah Crommelin and had three sons. In 1837, the eldest son, William George, married Elizabeth Callwell. Following the death of William Irwin, the father, in 1847 a dispute arose over the marriage settlement of 1837 and a charge on the lands of Dromneil/Drumneill in the parish of Clontibret, county Monaghan. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation the representatives of William Irwin held Drumneill, 205 acres in the parish of Clontibret, which was for sale in the Landed Estates Court in 1861. William George Irwin was the owner and his brother Crommelin and Thomas Hastings were the petitioners.
