Law (Raphoe)

Members of the Law family were lessors in the parish of Allsaints, barony of Raphoe North, County Donegal, at the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850 though elements of the estate appear to have been the subject of proceedings in Chancery at the time. In 1857 over 2000 acres of the estate of John Sutherland Law, in the parish of Allsaints, barony of Raphoe North, was offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court. The details indicate that some of this property had derived from the Hood estate. In the 1870s the Chief Tenants report records James Law and the representatives of Anne Law as the owners of over 450 acres respectively in County Donegal.
