Todd-Thornton (Inishowen)

In the 1870s Hussey-de Burge recorded James Henry Todd-Thornton as the proprietor of over 800 acres in County Donegal. The slightly earlier Landowners Survey puts his acreage at just over 700 acres. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation James Todd was the lessor of property at Tullyarvan, parish of Fahan Lower, barony of Inishowen West. Property in the parish of Fahan, including Buncrana Castle, the property of Daniel Todd, was offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court in 1850. This family also appear to have had estates in counties Antrim and Armagh.
