Finlay
The Finlays of Corville, Brackley and Sugarloaf, county Cavan would appear to be related. Their estate was in the parish of Templeport, barony of Tullyhaw, where in the mid-19th century, Sir Thomas Finlay, John, Francis and George Finlay all held land. Maria Finlay held one townland in the parish of Drumlane. The interest of Mrs Martha Gwynn (daughter of John Finlay, will dated 1830) in land at Kildallen was for sale in 1863 and 1864. In 1876, Alfred Finlay, a minor, of Ballyshannon, owned 1,023 acres, John Finlay of Brackley House, owned 4,337 acres, Sir Thomas Finlay of London owned 1,231 acres and the Reverend George Finlay of Drumcar, Dunleer, county Louth, owned 573 acres in county Cavan. In 1921, Reverend John Finlay, Dean of Leighlin, died at Brackley during a raid.
