Dobbin (Templeport)
The Dobbin family were from Carrickfergus, county Down. By the end of the 17th century a branch were settled at Ternascobe, county Armagh. Leonard Dobbin, born in 1789, of Wood Park, county Armagh, Templeport, county Cavan and Gardiners Place, Dublin, was descended from a junior branch of this family. In the mid-19th century he held an estate in the parish of Templeport, county Cavan which amounted to 2,364 acres in 1878. He held a further 1,098 acres in county Armagh. Leonard Dobbin died in 1881 leaving a number of sons by his wife Mary Miller, whose descendants settled in Canada and Australia.
