Brooke (Kilmacrenan)

Members of the Brooke family were lessors of property in the parish of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal at the time of Griffiths Valuation. In 1862 Reverend John Blair Chapman offered lands in this parish for sale in the Landed Estates Court. These lands were leased from the Brookes and the particulars of tenure offer a chronological account of the the leasing history from 1740 onwards when it was part of the Wray estate. Over 2200 acres of Henry Vaughan Brooke's estate in the barony of Kilmacrenan was offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court in June 1864.
