Marshall (Kilmacrenan)

Samuel Marshall was among the principal lessors in the parish of Gartan, barony of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal, at the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s. The Chief Tenants report of the 1870s notes James Marshall and James B. Marshall as the proprietors of over 300 acres respectively in the county. Samuel Marshall died at Gartan Lodge on 08 may 1862 and is buried at Taughboyne Church of Ireland graveyard. The Gartan estate was conveyed to W.C. Cornwall on 31 December 1855 for £5500 (Hansard). It was later purchased as a sporting estate by John George Adair.
